Five interdisciplinary and integrative cluster projects in Germany, Africa and Middle East, each coordinated by a German research institution. In order to realize the implementation of the results, the GLOWA researchers work hand in hand with the local partners and stakeholders.
2000-2011, divided into three phases. The German (Danube and Elbe) and the African projects (IMPETUS and Volta) ended in 2010; GLOWA Jordan River will end in December 2011.
The African projects were supplemented with follow-up initiatives in order to strengthen the local research capacities and to optimize the implementation of the tools and results in the region.
